Duane and Dawn Goetz are the owners of Goetz River Farms, Inc. a family farm since 1944. Duane became farming partners with his father LaVern and grandfather Alfred in 1977. A year later in November of 1978 Duane and Dawn were married and two years after that their daughter Kilee was born. The family raised potatoes, corn, beans, wheat, tomatoes, carrots, squash, and cattle. Duane, along with Dawn, father LaVern and mother Marelene were to be found everyday alongside a combine, a harvester, or semi-truck. Duane’s parents moved to town in 1983 and that is when Duane and Dawn renovated the family farm house where they have resided since 1989. After the passing of LaVern in 2003, Duane and Dawn decided to retire from production farming and concentrate on their seed dealership with Beck’s Superior Hybrids.

Duane grew up alongside his father LaVern, mother Marelene, and grandfather Alfred in the fields. The love of farming was both bred and desired. Following high school graduation Duane joined the partnership, bought his first farm, married, and started a family. In 1981, Duane was approached by Crow’s Seed to become a seed salesman. Duane introduced the tri-county area to Crow’s Seed and became very successful. After leaving Crow’s, Duane was approached by Asgrow Seeds and sold for them for 6 years. Then, in 1998 Duane became interested in a family owned company from Indiana called Beck’s Superior Hybrids. Duane and his father grew Beck’s seed corn for the first time. While planting soybeans in the spring, Duane ran short of seed and called Jim Love of Beck’s and said he would need more seed in a day or two. That very afternoon, seed was delivered from the plant in Indiana to the field. At that time Duane was approached by Jim Love of any interest in becoming a seed dealer for Beck’s. Wanting to improve services provided to his customers, Duane pursued a Certified Crop Advisor certification in 2001. But, that wasn’t enough. Having used crop insurance himself, Duane wasn’t satisfied with the level of service with understanding policy choices. Duane continues to grow in both seed and insurance sales through experience, commitment, knowledge and service.

Dawn married into the Goetz family in 1978. Raised a town girl, Dawn always loved farm life and hard work. Alongside Duane and his parents, she learned to drive tractor- plowing and fitting ground, hoeing soybeans, sorting cattle, grading potatoes and tomatoes, and driving semi trucks loaded with both grain and tomatoes. During this same time she was completing her Bachelor’s Degree in Education and becoming an elementary teacher. When daughter Kilee was born in 1980, Dawn continued to teach school and work in the fields all while taking care of her family. Dawn completed her Master’s degree in 1999. Dawn taught at Sand Creek Elementary School from 1991 and retired June of 2015. While teaching was her passion and calling, Dawn enjoys cooking and baking, aerobics, yoga, and Zumba dance. When time allows, Duane and Dawn enjoy camping in their 5th wheel camper and searching for new courses to shoot sporting clays. Dawn thoroughly enjoys Goetz River Farms clients and is an integral part of day to day operations. One of her biggest events is the Annual Customer Appreciation Day where customers enjoy a meal prepared by Dawn and Duane. Brightest part of Dawn’s day is watching her granddaughter Emily.
Adam Bailey
Maintenance Manager
Adam joined Goetz River Farms in the spring of 2019 as the Maintenance Manager, overseeing all aspects of property and building maintenance. He brings a love for taking on new challenges and excellent problem-solving skills to the team. Adam comes to Blissfield from Dacula, Georgia, where he previously worked for Georgia Power doing HVAC, plumbing, electrical and miscellaneous maintenance work for the operating headquarters and off site buildings. He also worked for Atlanta Gas Light as a compliance technician, ensuring adherence with company standards in residential and commercial properties. In his spare time, Adam previously was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying snowboarding, mountain biking, camping, hiking, and riding motorcycles. He now spends his free time with his new friends and family here in Blissfield, and officially became part of the Goetz family when he married Kilee in October 2019. Adam and Kilee welcomed their first child, Emily Elizabeth Bailey on May 1st 2022!
Jolene Noelanders

Jolene graduated from Siena Heights University with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Accounting. Previously Jolene worked managing a medical office and brings years of experience in customer service and office management. Jolene was born and raised in Blissfield and is a proud mother of boys. Jolene comes from farm lineage of both the Noelanders’ farms and grandparents Ken and Janet Goetz. Her youth was spent in the fields, as most farm kids do, working on her grandparents and uncles’ farms. Jolene joined Goetz River Farms and River Farms Crop Insurance Agency in the spring of 2022. Jolene works with all seed customers and insurance clients- existing and new. In her free time Jolene enjoys watching her boys’ sporting events, attending Blissfield events, and relaxing with family and friends.

Jade joined Goetz River Farms and River Farms Crop Insurance Agency in February of 2023 as a Beck’s seed sales representative and future crop insurance agent. Jade was born and raised in Hillsdale County, Michigan. He attended and graduated from Reading High School where his youth was spent in the farm fields doing tasks such as, baling hay and straw, picking up rocks, and cleaning fence rows. After graduating from Reading High School, he has been employed as an Operations Manager of a large dairy for the last 25 years. Jade has strong farm ties in the area. Jade has been married to his wife Amber for 24 years and have 3 daughters. Amber has worked for 12 years in Hillsdale, MI at a pediatric office. In Jade’s free time, hobbies include hunting, fishing, watching sports, two tracking up north, and raising beef cattle with his daughters. Jade has never shied away from hard work. He is a great asset to all operations here at Goetz River Farms with his knowledge of farming and farmers needs.
